Afshin is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University. Afshin holds a bachelor's degree in Social Work from York University and has over 16 years of experience working in the human services sector with a multitude of populations. Afshin is available to work with children (7+), teens, adults, and couples. Afshin is particularly interested in assisting people who are experiencing burnout due to stress, caregiving, or family conflict. She is devoted to working individuals with anxiety, depression, grief, cultural identification challenges, and those who find themselves managing family or cultural expectations.
Afshin applies a mindful, anti-oppressive, and anti-racist approach when working with her clients, and it is her top priority that they leave her sessions feeling better or lighter than when they arrived. Afshin is not afraid to have difficult conversations with her clients and wants them to feel safe and accepted for who they are. Afshin comes from a family of seven siblings, therefore she recognizes the significance of relational work in therapy. The bond between a client and their therapist can be the strongest indicator of therapeutic effectiveness. Thus, Afshin is committed to assisting her clients in achieving their goals and helping them become their own therapist.
Afshin enjoys reading, traveling, cooking, and enjoying all forms of art when she is not spending time with her husband and young son.
Afshin is now providing clients with low-cost therapy under the supervision of our Lead Therapist and Licensed Social Worker, Jana Venditti.
*Afshin’s services can be conducted in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu.
