Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral from my doctor to meet with a therapist at your clinic?

No. We do not require any formal referral in order to work with our clients.

I'm ready to meet with a therapist. How can I get started?

We are so glad that you have found us!  You are strongly encouraged to take a look at our TEAM PROFILES to select a therapist who fits best for you.  If you are not quite sure, email us HERE to speak directly with someone who can answer your questions.

Once you have selected your therapist, you can book your appointment directly online using our CLIENT BOOKING PORTAL, or you are welcome to call us at (647) 687-8321 or email us HERE.

Do you offer direct billing?

No. Our clinic does not provide direct billing to your insurance provider.  After your appointment, you will receive an email with your invoice.  This invoice can be sumitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement.  Be sure to check with your insurance provider the specific designation for which you are covered for (Registered Social Worker, Registered Psychotherapist etc).

I am looking for a therapist for my child.  Am I allowed to be a part of their sessions?

Yes.  Your child's therapist will do their best to include you in the treatment process as long as the child/teen consents to this.  Generally speaking, any treatment for a child under 12 years of age will include parents/caregivers.  If your child is comfortable meeting on their own with their therapist, we encourage parents/caregivers to be present for the beginning or end of their child's appointment to offer any updates and/or receive feedback about progress and next steps.

How long can I expect to be in therapy?

The answer to this question is not a simple one.  Some clients may find that they require long term support however other clients may feel that only one session is enough.  Your therapist will help you determine goals that specific, measurable, accessible, reasonable and timely.  They will make recommendations with regard to the length of service, however the choice will be yours to use sessions as needed.  With this in mind, a long standing concern may require a longer intervention.

Do you offer session packages for a reduced rate?

No. According to the Ontario College of Social Worker and Social Workers and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, it is unethical to pre-pay for services at a reduced rate.  You will be charged at the end of each appointment and will be invoiced accordingly.

How much does it cost to meet with a therapist?

Each therapist at our clinic establishes their own hourly fee as well as their  schedule of availability.  This is based on their years of experience, expertise, and additional training and certification.

All fees are outlined on our our CLIENT BOOKING PORTAL

Are services provided in-person or virtual?

All of our therapists provide services both virtually AND in person.

Virtual appointments are conducted using the privacy compliant, client management software "Jane".

Do you offer Reduced Rate Therapy?

Yes!

Our Clinic hosts a highly competitive Master's level Internship Program, and the successful candidates who are offered an Internship at Milton Psychotherapy Centre provide therapy to clients at a reduced rate as part of their training requirements.

These therapists-in-training are supported by our Lead Therapist, Jana Venditti, and are selected by our Clinic Director, Liz Khalighi, based on their experience, skillset, and because their values align with those of MPC.  When meeting with a Clinical Intern, you get the expertise and experience of working with our Team Lead, the immediate availability of a therapist-in-training, at a low-cost and accessible hourly rate.
