Meet Kathy
Kathy (she/her) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Master's of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Kathy has a special interest in supporting children (7+), teens, and adults who are experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, or life transitions. Kathy is invested in supporting individuals who may be struggling with parent-child attachment, couples attachment, communication challenges, relationship difficulties, and emotion regulation. As a mother of two, Kathy has lived experience understanding the joys and challenges of parenthood, and is passionate about empowering other parents to advocate for their child’s needs within school systems.
When working with Kathy, you will notice her open and inviting personality immediately. She is an active listener, patient and compassionate. An ambitious and passionate individual, Kathy strongly advocates for setting goals and challenging one’s comfort zone. With specialized training and certification in ADHD treatment and symptom management for children and adults, Kathy is affirming of those who identify as highly sensitive, neurodiverse (ex. ASD, ADHD). She is most mindful of creating a safe space for her clients to be vulnerable so that their unique voice can be heard throughout their journey. Kathy is equipped to support couples and families who have received a recent diagnoses of ADHD for their child or family member, and couples where 1 partner has been diagnosed with ADHD or ASD and they are now struggling to navigate this impact within their relationship. Kathy anchors her work in the importance of psycho-education and helping her clients to better understand the underlying factors that may contributing to ongoing challenges.
Kathy is attachment-focused, trauma-informed and is drawn to psychotherapy treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy (NT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MBCBT), and Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples. She is actively pursuing ongoing certification in attachment-focused interventions for adults and children.
If your benefits provider does not offer reimbursement for Registered Psychotherapy, Kathy can provide services under the Supervision of a Registered Social Worker.
