Michael Pincente (he/him) is a Registered Social Service Worker and recent graduate of the Bachelor of Social Work program at Wilfrid Laurier University who is currently pursuing his Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto.  He aims to create a calm, safe, and non-judgmental space where clients can feel heard, understood, and comfortable being themselves. Clients and colleagues describe him as easy to connect with, relatable, calm, and effective in the way he communicates. He brings warmth and humour into his work, helping therapy feel less intimidating while still creating space for meaningful change.

At the heart of his approach is a simple belief: people are capable of more than they sometimes believe they are. Rather than defining clients by what is going wrong, Michael helps them recognize what is already working, understand the needs underneath their struggles, and begin seeing challenges through a different lens. His goal is for clients to leave therapy with a stronger understanding of themselves, greater confidence in their abilities, and practical ways to move toward the life they want.

This approach is also deeply personal to him. Through his own experiences, Michael has come to understand the impact that safe relationships, meaningful connection, and having someone genuinely believe in you can have. He brings this understanding into his therapeutic work by prioritizing emotional safety and recognizing that healing often happens when people finally have the space to feel seen and supported. He is passionate about anti-oppressive, strengths-focused therapeutic work and supporting clients in recognizing their potential while making changes that feel meaningful and achievable.

Michael has experience supporting children ages 10+, teens, and parents and is expanding his practice to include adults and couples.

He can support clients experiencing:

  • Anxiety, worry, and overwhelm

  • Low mood and feelings of hopelessness

  • Low self-esteem and difficulty recognizing their strengths

  • Life transitions and uncertainty about what comes next

  • Identity exploration and questions about who they are or want to become

  • Career, relationship, and major life decisions

  • Relationship challenges and difficulties building meaningful connection

  • Bullying, peer relationships, and social skills

  • School-related challenges and school advocacy

  • Neurodivergence, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Conduct Disorder

  • Parenting and family-related challenges

He is particularly passionate about working with individuals who may feel stuck, disconnected, uncertain about themselves, or as though they are beginning to lose hope. Together, he helps clients reconnect with their strengths, explore possibilities they may not have considered, and build a greater sense of meaning and connection in their lives.

Michael recognizes that meaningful therapeutic work cannot happen without safety and trust. He takes the time to build a genuine relationship with each client before expecting them to tackle difficult experiences or make significant changes. His work is collaborative, strengths-based, and tailored to the individual. Depending on a client's needs and goals, he draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Motivational Interviewing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)-informed approaches. He also has experience facilitating group therapy and supporting clients with interpersonal and social skill development.

Michael does not expect clients to arrive at therapy already knowing exactly what they need or how to get there. Part of the work is figuring that out together. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, questioning your next step, navigating a relationship, trying to rebuild your confidence, or simply feeling like something in your life needs to change, he offers a supportive place to start.

His hope is that therapy becomes more than a place to talk about what's difficult. It becomes a place where you can see yourself differently, recognize what you're capable of, and begin moving toward a life that feels more connected, meaningful, and authentically yours.

While he is fulfilling his practicum requirements at Milton Psychotherapy Centre, Michael will be working under the clinical supervision of Kanica Coshal, MSW, RSW.  Michael’s services are being offered at a reduced rate.
